The Tattoos4Food Global Movement: Feeding Communities & Connecting Worlds
For years, tattoos4food (founded by BJ) has operated as a pioneering, not-for-profit Community Centre Awareness Project across Aotearoa New Zealand. Built on grassroots action, art, and direct community support, this initiative has a proven, documented track record—including being featured in mainstream media like the NZ Herald newspaper video interview in 2020.
Having successfully built, tested, and run these community-awareness and foodbank drives across the country, we are now taking this mission international.
The Mission: Local Impact Meets Global Research
We believe that true community building never stops learning. Starting our international chapter in Australia, we are in official partnership with the Welcome Bay Community Centre—a registered charity dedicated to supporting local whānau.
Traveling is one of the most powerful tools for growth. By experiencing how overseas community centers operate, we can bring back proven ideas, strategies, and innovations to directly improve our own local support systems at home.
How It Works Locally & Globally
While we proudly partner with and promote the Welcome Bay Community Centre as our official charity hub, operations are seamlessly integrated: living just down the road from the center, the tattooing takes place right from our local studio base. To ensure absolute security, transparency, and ease, all bookings, appointment times, and fundraiser contributions are officially processed and set up directly through the Welcome Bay Community Centre website using Stripe.
A Sustainable, Global Blueprint
This isn’t a one-off event. Wherever our travels take us around the world, we will run our universal, transparent fundraiser model at every stop. This creates a self-sustaining cycle that instantly benefits local families while fueling our ongoing community research:
The Engagement: $45 + 5 items of food per participation (booked and paid securely online via the official Welcome Bay Community Centre website).
Immediate Local Relief: 100% of the food items go straight to the Welcome Bay Community Centre food bank (and will adapt to local food security hubs as we expand worldwide) to feed families right now.
Global Research & Development: The $45 contributions directly fund the transit, safety, and operational logistics required to travel, connect with international community centers, and bring those learnings back home.
